CLYDE R.
SIMIEN, ATTORNEY AT LAW, INDEPENDENT PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT
Clyde R. Simien is a founding partner in the law firm of
Simien and Miniex since its inception in 1987. He is a
graduate of Southern University Law Center where he was a
member of the Southern University Law Review and member of
the Moot Court Board. He has a Bachelor of Science degree
in Accounting from the University of Southwestern
Louisiana.
Mr. Simien is a former Assistant Adjunct Professor of
Criminal Justice at the University of Southwestern
Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette).
He taught at the University from 1986 to 1989. He is a
member of the Lafayette, Louisiana State, and American Bar
Associations, the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, the
Louisiana District Attorneys Association, and the National
District Attorneys Association. He is admitted to practice
in the United States District Court for the Western
District of Louisiana as well as the United States Fifth
Circuit Court of Appeal. He is also licensed to practice
in the State of Texas.
Mr. Simien has successfully represented over one thousand
clients in the Lafayette area including the City of
Lafayette, the Lafayette Sheriff's Department, the
Louisiana Public Service Commission, the Manning Menard
Oil Company and others. These cases have involved a
variety of issues including commercial disputes. Mr.
Simien also has experience with utility cases as he has
actively participated in Docket No. U-19755, Southwest
Louisiana Electric Membership Cooperative in Re: Proposed
Revision of Electric Rates and Charges within Acadia,
Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, Vermillion, Avoyelles,
Evangeline, Iberia and Jefferson Davis Parishes, Louisiana
which analyzed a rate increase by Southwest Louisiana
Electric Membership Cooperation. Mr. Simien has also
participated in the U19997 In Re: Investigation into the
Purchase Gas Adjustment Calculation.
Mr. Simien's primary function in the firm is litigation.
His trial experience includes over 1000 trials of varying
magnitude and issues.
Mr. Simien has extensive trial experience, especially in
the area of serious personal injury matters, and has been
a member of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association since
1986.

Worked extensively with seven (7) judges in St. Mary,
Iberia and St. Martin Parish. Responsibilities included
legal research and analyzation of legal problems.
